Job Description At Regions, the Quality Assurance and Performance Architect oversees overall QA and performance architecture strategy. This position is responsible for implementing QA and performance architecture across all technical layers to increase quality and performance in our infrastructure.
Primary Responsibilities
Collaborate with team leaders and architects to develop end‑to‑end QA strategies and protocols for various applications and platforms.
Serve as a subject‑matter expert on integrating testing best practices into the application development lifecycle to reduce friction, identify potential problems early, and improve cross‑collaboration.
Develop and maintain testing automation processes in alignment with Regions’ standards and tools.
Research AI, machine learning, robotics, and other emerging technologies to improve automation efficiency and analytics.
Participate in program increment (PI) and sprint planning.
Provide direction and technical guidance on selecting proper frameworks, tools, setup, and strategies for performance architecture.
Stay abreast of latest trends in testing automation and recommend ways to improve efficiency, speed, and cost through research and innovation.
Create tools and components that improve testing automation speed and effectiveness.
Evolve test architecture through evaluation and adoption of new automation tools, techniques, and practices.
Guide, lead, and influence teams through knowledge‑sharing sessions.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Six (6) years of performance engineering experience, including two (2) years as a performance architect, application architect, or solution architect on high‑traffic, large‑scale distributed systems.
Preferences
Extensive experience with application architecture, design, capacity planning, and performance best practices.
Experience with open‑source load‑testing tools such as Apache JMeter, httperf; and APM and monitoring tools like Splunk.
Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases – querying, profiling, and performance tuning.
Experience with SQL, C, C++, C# or Java programming and automated testing methodologies.
Experience with AWS, distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
Strong understanding of mobile (Android, iOS) and web (HTTP, REST, HTML, JavaScript, CSS) technology stacks.
Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Puppet, Terraform, Packer, Consul, Vault.
Understanding of the On‑Prem to Cloud evolution.
Skills and Competencies
Ability to dissect multi‑tiered systems and track data flow across the application stack.
Proficiency with tools and frameworks such as HP LoadRunner, Splunk, Fiddler, Dynatrace, JMeter, Hammer, Performance Center.
Knowledge of application scalability and performance tuning (web‑based, n‑tier, MQ, CICS).
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to explain performance measures to diverse audiences.
Experience with GenAI testing practices.
Experience with CI/CD and continuous testing practices.
Experience utilizing Power BI, Harness, and related tools.
Experience with C# (NUnit, RestSharp), Java (TestNG, RestAssured, Postman), Git, Harness, Artifactory, JIRA, Confluence.
This position is intended to be onsite, now or in the near future. Associates will work full days in the office three or more days a week. The manager will set the work schedule for this position. The role is located within a reasonable driving distance to Birmingham, AL. Regions will not sponsor work visas for this position. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.

Compensation Details Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point‑of‑market reference. The target information listed is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for the position’s location and level.
Target: $130,217.45 USD
Median: $157,940.00 USD
This job may participate in an annual discretionary bonus plan.
