Field Engineer I - Primoris Renewable Energy Job Overview:

Primoris Renewable Energy is currently seeking Field Engineers to join our team for both immediate and 2025 starts. This position will be a site-based role. The Field Engineer will administer daily operations of the project site under the supervision of the Trade Superintendent, Project Engineer, Project Manager, and Site Manager. They are responsible for ensuring and maintaining cost, safety, schedule, and quality of the project. The role provides input and technical expertise for power generating construction projects, supports engineering review, procurement (if necessary), construction, and start‑up of a high or medium voltage electrical system, and offers installation guidance, QA/QC enforcement, scheduling support, and owner correspondence. The Field Engineer reviews and finalizes submittals to Owners of engineer as‑builts and project system packages (Job Books). They provide support to Trade Superintendents in supervising craft personnel and subcontractors to ensure a safe, productive, high‑quality job that controls costs.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Complete daily production and cost monitoring for major work items, ensuring data collection, review, and analysis of daily cost reports for comparison and planning.

Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, vendors, and material suppliers, building professional relationships and documenting communications to protect company interests.

Understand owner contracts, purchase contracts, and subcontract documents to manage invoicing, reconcile quantities, and communicate differences to project management.

Manage project equipment and material transactions and monitor inventory.

Ensure a safe work environment by complying with company safety policies and federal/state regulations; assist with subcontractor equipment and tools safety checks; serve as on‑site Safety Representative when required.

Familiarize with project design documents, specifications, Quality Plan, and ITP; operate in compliance with the project Quality Plan, work methods, and Primoris processes; assist in assembling documentation for job books.

Coordinate/prep alignment meetings with subcontractors, vendors, and stakeholders; assist with quality inspections, benchmarking, and additional responsibilities delegated by management.

Participate in assigned meetings, take notes, and generate monthly manager meeting documents and daily Plan of the Day documents.

Coordinate with Site Manager and Project Engineer to apply for and complete local permits; perform One‑Call functions and maintain the One‑Call log; work with land owners and monitor lease agreements.

Verify accuracy of all Foreman and Subcontractor daily reports, including work codes, labor hours, equipment hours, and production reporting.

Analyze and interpret field information through frequent interactions with all scopes of work.

Conduct project kick‑off and close‑out activities according to Primoris procedures (kick‑off and close‑out meetings, final inventory, utilities disconnect).

Assist with contractual and subcontract close‑out activities such as job books and as‑builts.

Initiate RFIs for questions or issues; follow the written RFI process and notify Project Engineer of all RFIs for review.

Review and research products or materials for client approval submittals; initiate submittals using the written process and notify Project Engineer of all submittals for review.

Assist Project Engineer in preparing submittals for client approval.

Assist in document control for field drawings; audit drawings to confirm use of latest revisions; identify and replace outdated drawings as needed.

Assist trade superintendents with work plan preparation, takeoffs, Material Request Forms, and pre‑construction checks.

Monitor purchased consumables on site or in warehouse to ensure they are approved per the submittal process.

Assist Trade Superintendent in establishing and maintaining crew and equipment matrices; compare information to Work Plans and update Operations Analysis as required.

Basic Qualifications

Four‑year degree in construction management, engineering, or related field; or equivalent education and experience. Some construction experience is preferred.

Accounting (math and record‑keeping) skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, Visio, Primavera).

Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation, listening).

Effective motivational and supervisory skills.

Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks.

FE/FC must relocate to the project site for the duration of each construction project assigned (averaging 6‑18 months).

Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).

Environmental Focus

Responsible for environmental compliance, ensuring all environmental procedures are met on the project.

Train and develop field representatives (SM, TS, foremen, and subcontractor representatives) in environmental stewardship.

Familiarize with site‑specific conditions and requirements; conduct pre‑job review of plans and regulations to ensure compliance.

Understand county, state, and federal regulations per project.

Collaborate with the Site Manager to perform construction activities in accordance with all mitigation requirements, permit conditions, and environmental specifications.

Track progress and coordinate with Primoris representatives and subcontractors to maximize environmental production and minimize costs.

Support PM, PE, SM in communicating and negotiating with owners regarding major environmental modifications and changes to specifications.

Support PM, SM on collection of information for change orders, pay quantities, and estimation of changes on the project.

Monitor, ensure, and manage storm water pollution prevention and erosion and sediment control plans; submit daily or weekly reports to Site Manager for review.

Coordinate closely with owner’s environmental representative regarding construction schedule to resolve compliance issues before they impact schedules or obligations.

Salary $77,000‑$87,000, dependent on experience, qualifications, and competencies.
