The Mandarin Immersion School of Houston (MISH), a small, nonprofit Mandarin immersion elementary program serving Houston families, is seeking a passionate, mission-driven Executive Director/Principal to lead our growing school through its next phase of development. MISH currently serves a small but growing student body and operates under the guidance of the Houston Mandarin Immersion Foundation (HMIF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to keeping high-quality bilingual education accessible and equitable for all families.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all elementary school operations, including curriculum, instruction, and student services.
Lead and supervise teaching staff, including hiring, onboarding, evaluation, and, when necessary, disciplinary action or termination.
Develop and implement MISH's marketing strategy with heavy emphasis on social media.
Proactively promote MISH in creative ways including local networking in order to increase community presence and enrollment.
Communicate and nurture enrollment leads.
Manage the school’s annual operating budget in coordination with board treasurer, present scenario planning and financial reports to the Board of Directors, and ensure fiscal responsibility.
Collaborate with HMIF BOD and take the lead on fundraising and development efforts, including events, donor engagement, and occasional grant assistance.
Lead the private school accreditation process, ensuring compliance with all relevant educational and nonprofit standards.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with families, staff, and community stakeholders.
Represent MISH at community and fundraising events (occasional evenings and weekends required).
Work with the Board to establish and pursue short- and long-term strategic goals for growth and sustainability.
Qualifications:
Certified teacher (required); Principal certification preferred.
Demonstrated leadership experience in education, preferably in a small, startup, or independent school environment.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
