Summary The Family Engagement Liaison will provide a range of services to students and their families to build capacity within the family to assist in the student’s education at Georgia Cyber Academy (GCA). The goal is to provide support to students by collaborating with teachers and parents to ensure each student’s compliance and full engagement with school platforms and programs to facilitate successful completion of school requirements. The Family Engagement Liaison will collaborate with other family engagement/resource roles to provide training, facilitate engagement, and promote effective communication practices between parents, teachers, and other support staff.
Essential Functions
Welcome new students and families into the GCA school community to ensure they have the proper foundation for academic success through completion of our Strong Start Program.
Facilitate communication between parents and/or Learning Coaches and the school to meet student’s academic needs.
Reach out to each family on the assigned caseload at least once per month via phone or Zoom. The goal of the Family Engagement Liaison is to reach each family successfully at least once per month to ensure that the family has support, has their questions answered and are provided with help when needed.
Collaborate with the family engagement team, counselors, teachers, parents, administrators, and other GCA staff to identify training needs for parents and students.
Work with the school staff to facilitate/host school-wide events, parent workshops and other activities for the purposes of ensuring quality delivery of services.
Educate parents to recognize the need for healthy home/school relationships and the GADOE Six Requirements on Building Capacity.
Work with staff in encouraging parents to participate in school activities.
Assist parents with academic coaching methods, which parents can use at home to help their children.
Provide technical assistance relating to parental involvement as needed locally or at the district level.
Communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators on an ongoing basis regarding each student’s progress.
Maintain accurate documentation of communication, needs, and academic supports provided. Also maintain detailed documentation of conversations and attempts to reach families within Infinite Campus.
Respond to Student/Staff e-mails and phone calls within 24 hours.
Complete state standardized testing training and participate in state testing as assigned.
Perform duties consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
Cross functional duties may include assisting with Test Monitoring and assisting with Records & Enrollment processes.
Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Associates degree in Education, Counseling, Human Services, or related field of study AND
One (1) year of experience working with families as a support liaison, advisor, or equivalent role, developing parent mentors/parent training OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates And Licenses
Desired GA PSC Teaching/Educational Certificate
Clear Fingerprint/Background Check Required.

Experience working with diverse student populations
Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, OneNote, and G‑Suite.
Knowledge of the SCSC Comprehensive Performance Framework
Knowledge of GaDOE CCRPI
Ability to read and interpret student academic data and educational reports
Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms

Previous experience with online educational tools/curriculum/assessments
Working knowledge of Infinite Campus (SIS)
Working knowledge of Canvas (LMS)
Working knowledge of Jigsaw Interactive (live classroom tool)
Proficient in use of Zoom conferencing tool

Work Environment
This is primarily a Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, 5 days/week, home‑based position that may require traveling up to 20% of the time.
During critical periods, in‑office days may be required. The noise level in the office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic).
In‑person attendance at professional development, training, conferences, job fairs, meetings, school events, marketing events, and testing sites will be required several times per year.
Light lifting required.
