Employment information includes locations Andrews PK8 School / Eaton Middle School (itinerant position) with a 10-month, full-time assignment. Start date: Immediately. Salary: Teacher scale — commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
Provide instruction and support with language arts objectives to a group of 15 students per class assignment.
Participate in training sessions and professional development as required.
Maintain accurate records of student data.
Collaborate with administration and literacy coach in both written and oral formats, to share information regarding student achievement.
Under direction of the literacy coach, assist in planning and implementing instructional activities.
Provide assistance to identified students as needed; supervise whole group and small group activities; work with students on specific skill areas.
Assist in assessing and evaluating student achievement; modify and tailor instructional activities to reach achievement goals for individual students and targeted student groups.
Administer assessment tools to assess student abilities related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.
Assist with the preparation of materials and other instructional aids.
Manage the behavior of learners in an instructional setting to ensure an environment conducive to the learning process.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Job Requirements
Must possess a Virginia License or be eligible for a Virginia License with an endorsement in English, Middle School Education 6-8, or Reading Specialist .
Ability to apply basic instructional concepts and subject matter in a classroom environment.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, faculty, and others. Ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and diverse levels of educational achievement and ability.
