Field Engineer I - Primoris Renewable Energy Primoris Renewable Energy is currently seeking Field Engineers to join our team for both immediate and 2025 starts. This will be a site‑based role. The Field Engineer administers daily operations of the project site under the supervision of the Trade Superintendent, Project Engineer, Project Manager, and Site Manager. They ensure and maintain cost, safety, schedule, and quality of the project, provide technical expertise for power‑generation construction projects, support engineering review, procurement (if necessary), construction and start‑up of high or medium‑voltage electrical systems, and oversee installation guidance, QA/QC enforcement, scheduling support, and owner correspondence. The Field Engineer reviews and submits Engineer As‑builts and project system packages (Job Books) to the Owner, and assists Trade Superintendents in supervising craft personnel and subcontractors to achieve a safe, productive, and high‑quality job while controlling costs.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Complete daily production and cost monitoring for major work items by ensuring production, cost data, and safety are collected from the prior day. The Field Engineer/Coordinator accurately prepares, reviews, and analyzes daily cost reports for comparison analysis and planning.

Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, vendors and material suppliers; develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, land‑owners, and coworkers to strengthen the company's position.

Understand owner contracts, purchase contracts and subcontract documents to interpret inclusions/exclusions and scheduling for invoice payment. Validate, reconcile and maintain accurate quantities for billing purposes and communicate differences to project management.

Manage project equipment and material transactions, monitor inventory of equipment and materials.

Ensure a safe work environment by complying with company safety policies and federal and state regulations, assist in ensuring subcontractor equipment, materials and small tools are in safe operating condition, and administer on‑site risk management programs as an on‑site Safety Representative when necessary.

Familiarize with project design documents, specifications, Quality Plan and Inspection & Test Plan (ITP); operate in compliance with the Quality Plan, work methods, and Primoris processes and practices. Assist in administering and managing project quality and in compiling documentation for job books.

Participate in assigned meetings, take notes, and generate monthly manager meeting documents (project indicators, project Visio, etc.) and daily "Plan of the Day" documents.

Coordinate with Site Manager and Project Engineer to apply for and complete local permits, identify and work with utility companies, perform the One‑Call process, and maintain the One‑Call log.

Verify accuracy of all Foreman and Subcontractor daily reports including work codes, labor hours, equipment hours, and production reporting.

Analyze and interpret field information through frequent interactions with the field over all scopes of work being performed.

Conduct project kick‑off and close‑out activities according to Primoris procedures (kick‑off and close‑out meetings for estimating, final inventory, disconnect utilities, etc.).

Assist in all contractual and subcontract close‑out activities (job book, as‑builts, etc.).

Initiate RFIs for questions or issues that arise during construction activities, follow the written RFI process, and notify the Project Engineer of all RFIs for review.

Review and research products or materials to be used, gather required documentation for submittal to the client for approval, and notify the Project Engineer of submittals for review.

Assist the Project Engineer in preparing submittals for client approval.

Assist in document control for field drawings by working with the Site Manager, Project Engineer, and Trade Superintendent to audit drawings and replace any non‑current revisions.

Assist trade superintendents in work‑plan preparation by doing takeoffs, preparing material request forms, and coordinating pre‑construction checks.

Monitor purchased consumables found on site or in the warehouse to ensure they are approved per the submittal process.

Assist in establishing and maintaining crew and equipment matrices, comparing information to established work plans, and updating operations analysis as needed.

Basic Qualifications

Four‑year degree in construction management, engineering or related field; or equivalent education and experience. Some construction experience is preferred.

Accounting (math and record‑keeping).

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, Outlook, Visio, Primavera).

Effective communication (oral, written, presentation, listening).

Motivational and supervisory skills.

Organize and prioritize numerous tasks.

Expected to relocate to the project site for the duration of each construction project (average 6‑18 months).

Valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR.

Environmental Focus

Responsible for environmental compliance, ensuring procedures are met on the project.

Train and develop field representatives (SM, TS, foremen, and subcontractor representatives) in environmental stewardship for the site/state.

Familiarize with site‑specific project conditions; pre‑job review of plans, specifications, and regulations to ensure compliance.

Understand county, state and federal regulations per state or project.

Collaborate with the Site Manager to ensure construction activities meet mitigation requirements, permit conditions, and environmental specifications.

Track progress and coordinate with Primoris representatives and subcontractors to maximize environmental installation production and minimize costs.

Support PM, PE, SM in negotiating with owners regarding major environmental installation modifications or changes to specifications.

Support PM, SM on collection of information for change orders, pay quantities, and estimation of changes.

Monitor, ensure and manage storm‑water pollution prevention and erosion and sediment control plans; submit daily or weekly reports to the Site Manager.

Coordinate with owner’s environmental representative regarding construction schedule to resolve compliance issues before they impact schedules or contract obligations.

Salary $77,000‑$87,000, dependent on experience, qualifications, and competencies.
