Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The laboratory work involves Copper, Aluminum, Titanium, Superalloys and Steels, Specialty alloys and engineered materials.

Familiarize with RAW MATERIALS (Copper alloys, Aluminum alloys, Titanium alloys, Superalloys, Specialty steels and any other materials that Weldaloy deals with in Ingots, billets, bars, etc.) and customer specifications (purchase orders, drawings, specifications).

Operate equipment for sectioning, mounting, polishing, etching, and examine metallographic specimens using optical microscopes; capture photomicrographs and apply micron markers.

Perform in‑situ or spot metallography on forged parts or raw materials.

Assess grain size and microstructural characteristics of standard materials.

Prepare samples for chemical and mechanical testing.

Multitask while performing preparation and analysis efficiently.

Collaborate with Engineers and Managers on projects.

Familiarize with AMS2750G, pyrometry, NADCAP requirements and laboratory functions.

Raise Corrective Action Reports (CARs) and advise on corrections.

Plan and schedule tests under supervisory guidance.

Learn and operate testing equipment (chemical, mechanical, metallographic) per standard procedures; record all data and results.

Operate laptops for spreadsheets, charts, and report writing (Microsoft Office and Outlook).

Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly laboratory environment.

Work with customers as needed within job scope.

Record, label, analyze, and maintain traceability of laboratory samples; ensure safe storage and retrieval per customer requirements.

Organize and store chemicals, substances, fluids, and compressed gases safely.

Conduct failure analysis investigations on various failures.

Participate in New Process and Product Development (NP2D).

Assist in lab audits by accreditation agencies or customers.

Prepare Standard Operating Procedures as advised by Lab Supervisor & Metallurgist.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and at least two years of related experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.

Prior experience with an ERP/MRP system is preferred.

Metallurgical knowledge of alloy families: Copper base, Aluminum base, Iron base, Titanium base, Superalloys, and Specialty steels.

Demonstrated problem‑solving skills and excellent organizational and communication skills.

Ability to multitask.

Position requires on‑site work with occasional work from home permitted with supervisor approval.

This position involves access to technical data subject to ITAR/EAR regulations. Employment is contingent upon the applicant’s ability to meet these requirements or the Company’s ability to obtain an export license.

Working Conditions This position is full‑time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Occasional flexibility for evenings or weekends may be required. Remote work during after hours may be possible when required. Some travel may be necessary. The role operates in an office/laboratory setting and may involve support in other departments. The employee must manage multiple priorities and comply with all safety policies on the manufacturing campus. Required personal protective equipment will be provided.

Physical Demands The employee will spend most of the time sitting using computers and laboratory equipment, with occasional moving or lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, bending, and reaching. Visual, verbal, and auditory acuity is required.
