McCook County is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable
Deputy Treasurer
to join our Treasurer’s Office. This position assists the Treasurer in managing the fiscal and investment operations of county funds while providing exceptional customer service to the public. Collect and record all taxes, assessments, levies, and other revenues due to the county. Maintain accurate tax records and update all tax changes. Process motor vehicle licensing, registration, title transfers, and related fees. Prepare and balance daily check deposits; verify prior day’s state business. Assist with end-of-month financials and investment of county funds. Process applications for tax relief. Prepare and send property tax and delinquent tax notices. Collect advance and escrow payments. Prepare daily, monthly, and annual financial reports. Provide excellent customer service by assisting the public via phone and in person. Sign plats in the absence of the Treasurer. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Treasurer. Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required. Knowledge of general accounting principles and office procedures. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn county software systems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the public. Knowledge of, or ability to learn, South Dakota Codified Laws related to the Treasurer’s Office. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
This position requires sitting or standing for extended periods, with occasional walking, kneeling, crouching, or lifting up to 30 lbs. The Deputy Treasurer must maintain a professional demeanor and be able to follow verbal and written instructions accurately. What We Offer
