Arabic Linguist Specialists

to join our humanitarian operations in conflict-affected areas. This role is not easy as it is demanding, high-risk, and requires exceptional mental and physical resilience. self-starters, problem-solvers, and mentally tough. Role & Responsibilities Provide real-time interpretation (Arabic ? English) during aid distributions, briefings, and community engagement. Translate essential documents, forms, and signage for humanitarian activities. Act as a cultural bridge between aid teams and local populations, ensuring dignity and respect in all communications. Support registration, verification, and beneficiary services with clarity and neutrality. Work with medical, logistics, and security teams to keep communication fast and accurate. Use discretion, neutrality, and cultural awareness to help defuse tense situations. Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold humanitarian values under all conditions. Report local insights, community concerns, and security observations to supervisors. Basic Qualifications Fluent in Modern Standard Arabic and at least one regional dialect. Professional English proficiency, written and spoken. 3+ years of professional translation/interpretation, ideally in humanitarian, military, diplomatic, or NGO contexts. Proven ability to work under stress in austere or high-risk settings. Physically and mentally fit to operate in extreme conditions (heat, dust, long hours, limited amenities) Strong understanding of cultural sensitivities and humanitarian contexts. Neutral, professional, and resilient; no matter the circumstances. Preferred Qualifications

Field experience in humanitarian aid, refugee response, disaster relief, or crisis operations. Familiarity with humanitarian principles (neutrality, impartiality, independence, humanity). Previous work with international NGOs, UN agencies, or government humanitarian entities. Security awareness or hostile environment training (HEAT). Additional languages such as Kurdish, Dari, Farsi, or French. Physical & Travel Requirements This role requires extensive international travel, including active conflict zones. Travel may range from 50% to 100% of the time, depending on operational needs and assignment schedules. Candidates must be physically capable of working in demanding environments, including those with limited infrastructure and elevated safety risks. The position involves frequent standing, walking, and physical activity throughout the day. Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted. Assignments may involve deployment to regions experiencing active conflict or instability, including designated war zones.
