.NET Applications Developer Senior Job Location: 1600 W Monroe St, Phoenix, AZ 85007. Salary: $101,200 per year. Position Grade: 27. Closing Date: Until closed.
Job Summary The .NET Applications Developer Senior (part of the .NET Development Team) develops, analyzes, troubleshoots, and supports .NET-based applications responsible for Arizona Department of Revenue tax accounting systems. As part of the .NET Development Team, this role will design and develop client and/or server solutions to meet required business needs. The position does not have direct reports and is available for remote work on a full‑time basis within Arizona.
Job Duties
Application Development
Develop new applications and/or functionality to meet defined requirements and technical designs.
Write and implement source code, test source code, and debug code.
Document the design and code of new or existing applications.
Create deliverables according to the Software Development Life‑Cycle.
Application Support
Analyze and resolve production problems in a timely manner.
Resolve end‑user service requests.
Propose solutions and communicate them to peers and clients.
Review and recommend improvements to existing code.
Conduct performance tuning.
Business Engagement
Work with business analysts and stakeholders to understand functional requirements.
Contribute to the completion of technical projects and specifications by documenting, decimating, and executing technical project plans discussed with analysts and stakeholders.
Agency/Department Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Remain current on all laws, regulations, policies, and best practices related to taxation through regular engagement in activities such as self‑directed research and subscription to regulatory newsletters.
Actively contribute to team and individual effectiveness by attending staff meetings, completing required training, and participating in assigned work teams.
Prepare for and participate in 1:1 coaching with supervisor.
Maximize work processes and deliverables through lean principles within the Arizona Management System (AMS) and provide recommendations for process improvement.
Miscellaneous
Assist in the training of new employees.
Provide guidance to junior developers.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree (e.g., B.A.) from a four‑year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of eight years programming experience, at least three of which in development.
Previous experience designing and developing client/server solutions.
Licenses & Certifications
None required.
Knowledge/Understanding
Applicable programming languages and development platforms.
Application Security (OWASP Top 10).
Database principles.
Software Development Life‑Cycle.
Windows Communication Foundation.
REST Principles.
Complex XML Schema Definitions.
Unit Testing.
Skills
Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
Strong proficiency in developing and writing technical documentation.
Strong mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and averages.
Excellent interpersonal skills and demeanor.
Proficiency in using a PC in a Windows environment and Microsoft Office applications.
Proficient in MS Visual Studio, .NET Core, .NET Framework, C#, Entity Framework, T‑SQL programming, JavaScript, WCF, ASP.NET MVC, REST, Dependency Injection, ADO.NET, Unit Testing, complex XML Schema, Azure DevOps, and/or TFS.
Abilities
Ability to clear a comprehensive background and clearance process that includes an Arizona tax compliance verification and a criminal background check via the FBI.
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to understand and solve problems using intermediate analytical skills.
Ability to learn and apply LEAN concepts, principles, and tools.

In the course of performing essential duties, travel up to 20 pounds occasionally, or 10 pounds frequently, or negligible force constantly to move objects.
