The University of Missouri’s NextGen Precision Health Building seeks an experienced Senior Research Specialist for the Scott Rector Lab.

Job Description The Senior Research Specialist will assist the laboratory manager and fellow lab mates as a research specialist for the Principal Investigator (PI). The person is expected to conduct research studies that are compatible with the PI’s overall research focus/objectives with input and oversight from the PI and laboratory manager. The person in this position is expected to help conduct, analyze, and interpret research studies. This person will help manage mouse breeding colonies, genotype, run various assays including but not limited to real time PCR, western blots, histology, mitochondrial function, cell culture, necropsy, and enzymatic assays.

Key Responsibilities

Work w/the lab manager to initiate, organize, and conduct experiments in rodents that evaluate the effects of genetic modification and diet on fatty liver disease in various animal models.

Understand how own assigned duties relate to others in the team and how the team integrates with others; works to create a collaborative team environment.

Animal colony management.

Perform duties that will keep the lab organized and clean.

Shift Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., occasional nights and weekends

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range Salary Range: $52,915.20-$68,161.60/year
