About the Role
Senior FOIA Paralegal (Full Time, Mid-Level). Department: Legal. Pay range: $65,357.76/yr - $94,405.65/yr. This role supports the legal mission of a large federal agency, performing legal review and FOIA request processing, among other litigation support tasks.
Responsibilities
Conduct searches and analyze result sets to separate non-responsive documents from responsive documents and screen responsive documents for privilege or FOIA exemptions.
Redact and code responsive documents.
Perform legal research.
Draft legal documents.
Deliver high-quality work under extreme pressure.
Qualifications
Paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA‑accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study.
At least one year of litigation paralegal experience (trial experience very helpful).
Experience with Nuix Investigate, Relativity, or other eDiscovery and document review tools.
Experience processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests; demonstrated knowledge of FOIA rules and exemptions.
Basic legal knowledge, including standard legal citation and use of LEXIS/Westlaw.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, proficiency with computer applications.
Ability to work independently and obtain a government security clearance.
Basic familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures.
Preferred Experience
Two years using Nuix Investigate for document review and tagging.
Two years processing FOIA requests for federal agencies.
Fluency in statutory and regulatory FOIA guidelines.
