Day (United States of America) A Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist) plays a crucial role in diagnosing and treating heart diseases. The role includes performing procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization/EP Laboratories, operating X-ray and other imaging equipment, and supporting invasive cardiac procedures under physician supervision. Compensation Pay Range:
$45.45 - $61.17 Essential Functions
1 - Procedure Documentation a Captures all documentation required for all procedures in Mac/Cardio according to standards. b Maintains accuracy of database. Ensures all patients and procedures are recorded accurately in database. c Verifies procedure log is accurate and assists MD with procedure reports. d Utilizes knowledge of A/P and cardiac procedures to document in Mac/Cardio Lab appropriately and carefully, including but not limited to: • Flushing of sheaths and maintaining sheath integrity to ensure proper hemostasis. • Introducing catheters into vessel structures consistent with current CDIC SOPs. • Obtaining hemodynamic and angiographic data by operating transducer and manifold; assists in operator of mechanical atherectomy and thrombectomy devices. • Under direct physician order, position, inflate, and deflate balloons and stents inside vessels. • Assists with all balloon, catheter, sheath, and wire exchanges. • Demonstrates and performs proper post-access care and management (e.g., mechanical closure devices and/or manual compression). • Convey pertinent patient history to the Physician for pre/post care. 2 - Equipment a Operates electronic equipment to monitor heart rhythm and blood pressure during procedures. b Prepares and assists MD with radiographic equipment. c Prepares and assists MD with EP/Vascular and coronary equipment. d Prepares and assists MD with cardiac cath equipment such as IABP and Angiojet. e Prepares, operates, and maintains other Cardiac Cath/EP equipment per policy/manufacturer recommendations (ACT, OCT, IVUS, RFR, IFR, FFR, Angiojet, CSI, etc.). f Demonstrates thorough knowledge of location, care, and operation of all cath lab equipment; troubleshoots simple issues or escalates as needed. 3 - Safety/Quality a Fosters a “Culture of Safety” with personal ownership of a safe environment. b Verifies patient identification with two identifiers prior to invasive procedures; conducts time-out; ensures correct patient, procedure, site, equipment, and consent. c Follows CDC hand hygiene guidelines; uses PPE; disposes of hazardous materials properly; maintains MSDS awareness. d Assesses patient fall risk and implements appropriate interventions. e Ensures environment meets regulatory requirements (e.g., no cardboard boxes on floor, care of soiled ultrasound probe). f Understands hospital codes/emergency preparedness and roles. g Holds self and others accountable for quality improvement/standards. h Uses chain of command to report patient safety risks; maintains PPE use. 4 - Professional Development a Attends at least 5 CEUs in specialty area each year. b Attends hospital-sponsored training programs as required by department and renewal date. d Acts as an active participant in unit-based initiatives. e Assumes responsibility for professional development by seeking educational opportunities. f Functions as “tech in charge” as assigned. g Trains staff technologists and assists Cath Lab personnel and students. h Maintains current knowledge/certification. 5 - Radiation Safety a Maintains up-to-date quality control program of radiographic equipment. b Coordinates annual radiation safety in-service for departmental staff. c Coordinates and maintains X-ray maintenance program. d Gathers data for monthly fluoroscopy use report. e Distributes and manages film badges. f Uses anatomy knowledge for proper positioning to maximize diagnostic information. g Sets technical factors to achieve high-quality radiographs per ALARA standards. h Practices radiation safety with all radiographic equipment. 6 - Data Management a Verifies information and procedures are transcribed in the cardiac catheterization log book. b Verifies information in the computer system. c Ensures correct billing of patient accounts at time of procedure and reconciles as directed. d Maintains accuracy of log book and Mac Lab database. 7 - Inventory a Maintains stock inventory and initiates orders of all procedure areas. b Notifies Lead Tech/NM of stock needs; orders equipment as required. c Properly charges for all medical/surgical items used. d Restocks as needed. Minimum Education:
Graduate of an approved program of radiological technology required Minimum Work Experience:
Prior Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferred. EKG interpretation, arrhythmia recognition, radiology Required Licenses/Registrations:
ARRT (RT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (Radiologic Technologist); RT - MA - Radiologic Technologist - MA State License Required Certifications:
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Day shift 0700-1700 Education/License/Certification Requirements:
