The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (Parks Conservancy) has served as the nonprofit partner of the National Park Service since 1981, collaborating with the Presidio Trust, partners, donors, and the community to support the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA). The GGNRA stretches across three Bay Area counties, north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge, and includes iconic places such as Muir Woods National Monument, Fort Point National Historic Site, Alcatraz Island, Crissy Field, Mori Point, Lands End, and the Presidio of San Francisco. The Conservancy engages at the intersection of national park sites, local communities, social justice, and climate resilience, enhancing public awareness and providing volunteer and educational opportunities in the parks.
About The Role – Membership Associate The Membership Associate is part of the Development and Membership branch that leads organization‑wide fundraising. Reporting to the Director of Membership, the role executes data and administrative functions for the Membership revenue stream. Responsibilities include managing member records in the Conservancy’s database (Raiser’s Edge NXT), processing, tracking, and acknowledging gifts, maintaining individual records, reporting, and ensuring data integrity. The associate communicates directly to members via email, telephone, and in person. The position is located at Park Headquarters, 102 Fort Mason, and requires a minimum of four onsite days per month.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Adhere to database processes and data entry best practices.
Support membership data entry, gifts and donations, including checks, credit cards, cash, ACH transfers, stock, and retail store gifts.
Accurately enter new constituent contact information and update existing donor information.
Import online gifts, new constituents, data reconciliation, and event registrations into Raiser’s Edge.
Track and report on membership donations and ensure data integrity.
Implement mailed and electronic gift acknowledgements for gifts under $1,000.
Create, package, and mail member premiums on time.
Assist in member mailing projects, including quarterly return label mailing and annual Golden Gate Keeper calendar fulfillment.
Correspond with members via email or phone to resolve inquiries, such as credit card and monthly contribution issues.
Respond to member inquiries within 48 hours.
Assist with stewardship events and programs, including member communications and event staffing.
Troubleshoot digital membership card program and manage related inquiries.
Provide staff support for other donor events and administrative duties as needed.
Assist with development team projects and general membership communications, acquisition, and campaigns.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Strong proficiency in computer tasks such as gift entry, database updating, and mail merges.
Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft Office suite.
Detail‑oriented and professional in donor interactions.
Strong written and oral communication skills and excellent customer service.
Ability to work independently as well as in a dynamic team.
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Education And/or Experience
One‑to‑two years applicable experience in a nonprofit or similar setting.
Database experience with Raiser’s Edge and/or other CRMs or databases strongly preferred.
Health And Safety The Parks Conservancy maintains a safe and healthy workplace. Employees must comply with all health and safety rules.
Physical Requirements And Work Environments
Work is performed in an office setting.
Primarily sitting and standing at a desk 6‑8 hours per day.
Pay Rate/Grade/Benefits Pay rate is $32.00 per hour (Grade 16). Benefits include medical, dental, and vision plans; up to three weeks paid vacation, one week of personal days plus holiday and sick days; 403(b) retirement plan; employer‑matched commuter program; employee assistance program; employee discounts, and more.
