Responsibilities
Assist a Corrections Records Officer III in maintaining offender records including fingerprints/photographs/case histories/sentence and judgement papers/legal forms/releases.
Compute discharge dates including conditional releases and time credit dates.
Receive and process sentence and judgement papers; review and verify court documents for correct charge/sentence length/program eligibility/jail time credit; assist in maintaining computerized offender records; review records; edit information; provide detained reports to appropriate personnel for corrections/modifications to the system.
Interview offenders and respond to routine correspondence explaining time calculations and detainers.
Prepare and furnish certified copies of sentence and judgement papers; offender records; other identification materials to law enforcement agencies, prosecuting attorneys, courts, and other officials involved in the case; reports including offender movement/releases/escapes/violations; escape warrants and documents for extradition/facility transfers/releases.
Supervise and train staff engaged in routine record‑keeping tasks.
Assemble and process records for offender movement into and out of the facility; arrange for proper disposition of offender’s personal effects.
Respond to routine inquiries from court officials, attorneys, judges, law enforcement agencies, and offender’s families relating to offender records, while maintaining confidentiality and security of offender records.
Receive general administrative direction; work is reviewed for compliance with facility and departmental policies and procedures, and with Missouri Statutes; perform other related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
One or more years of experience in corrections, office support, or other relevant/similar experience; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university can be substituted for experience at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year.
Compensation and Stipends
$2.00 per hour shift differential if assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00 pm (noon) and 5:00 am and employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
$0.75 per hour maximum security stipend if working full‑time at a qualifying facility.
$1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if assigned to a regular post within a restricted housing/segregation unit at any facility.
