Overview The Longmeadow Police Department is accepting applications for current and future openings for Non-Civil Service, Full-Time Police Officers. Because the LPD holds high standards of integrity and professionalism, interested applicants should be highly motivated, self-disciplined and possess a community policing philosophy. Preference will be given to candidates with MPTC academy certification.

Responsibilities

Selected candidates will be required to :

Possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Massachusetts firearms license to carry.

Be at least 21 years of age.

Successfully pass oral interviews.

Successfully pass a thorough background investigation prior to employment.

Successfully pass a medical examination.

Successfully pass a psychological examination.

Must be a United States citizen.

Possess and maintain a valid driver\'s license.

Must reside within 15 miles of Longmeadow, Massachusetts within 6 months of appointment.

Successfully pass a Field Training phase.

Meet and maintain POST certification.

About the Department The Longmeadow Police Department is an Accredited Agency comprised of 27 sworn full-time officers and 3 civilian employees serving a population of approximately 16, residents. Widely recognized for its professionalism and unwavering commitment to community policing, the LPD enjoys working side by side with our community partners to enhance the quality of life for our residents.

Competitive benefits package includes :

Starting annual salary range for a FT Police Officer is from $56, (Step Minimum) - $83, (Step 2) depending on service credit, education incentive, shift differential and stipends.

3% Cost of Living increase has been approved for FY27 and FY28.

To be considered for Police Officer Step 2 (2-4 years of service) candidate must have a minimum of two years of service as an MPTC, POST certified full-time police officer in the State of Massachusetts (lateral transfer).

All conditions must be met at the time of application to be considered for equivalent placement on the salary schedule.

Education Incentive; 10%, 20% and 25%

“4 and 2” schedule (4 days on, 2 days off); 8 hr. shifts

12 days of sick time accrued annually

Annual vacation : 13-26 days

Detail Rate $76.42 / hr.
