The Warehouse Lead at our organization plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating warehouse operations efficiently and effectively. This position is responsible for leading a team of warehouse staff, ensuring proper inventory management, maintaining a safe working environment, and optimizing warehouse processes to meet operational goals.
Responsibilities
Supervising and leading a team of warehouse personnel, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure efficient workflow and high productivity.
Coordinating daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storing, and distributing products in accordance with established procedures.
Overseeing inventory management processes, including cycle counting, stock replenishment, and ensuring accurate stock levels are maintained.
Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a safe working environment for all warehouse staff.
Implementing and maintaining efficient warehouse layout and organization systems to maximize space utilization and improve overall operational efficiency.
Collaborating with other departments, such as procurement and logistics, to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of orders and inventory control.
Monitoring and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to warehouse operations, such as productivity, accuracy, and on-time delivery.
Identifying process improvement opportunities and implementing best practices to streamline warehouse operations and enhance productivity.
Contributing to assessing regular evaluations of warehouse staff, providing feedback, identifying training needs, and fostering a positive work environment.
Maintaining documentation and records related to warehouse activities, such as inventory reports, incident reports, and maintenance logs.
Working closely with the logistics team to optimize transportation routes, reduce costs, and improve overall performance.
Fostering a culture of learning and growth by providing guidance and support to team members.
Promoting cross-functional training opportunities to increase versatility and flexibility within the team.
Proactively identifying operational issues and challenges and initiating the appropriate actions to address them.
Collaborating closely with different departments, such as logistics, production, and customer service, to ensure effective coordination and alignment of operational activities.
Establishing and maintaining an accurate stock tracking system, ensuring real-time visibility of inventory levels, locations, and movement.
Collaborating with procurement, sales, and production teams to ensure accurate stock forecasts and align inventory levels with business needs.
Coordinating with logistics and warehouse teams to manage inbound and outbound inventory movements efficiently.
Monitoring incoming/outgoing goods for quality and accuracy before they move into production or leave the facility.
Scheduling and overseeing maintenance of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse/production equipment.
Ensuring new hires are trained effectively in warehouse/production procedures.
Assisting in resolving order errors, shortages, or shipment delays that affect customers.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in supply chain management or logistics is a plus.
Proven experience in a warehouse leadership or supervisory role, preferably in a fast‑paced distribution or logistics environment. (Minimum 1‑3 years’ experience)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Completion and certification in forklift training.
Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and best practices.
Proficient in using enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and other relevant software applications.
Knowledge of shipping/logistics standards – familiarity with LTL, FTL, parcel shipping, freight compliance, and carrier requirements.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks, including inventory counts and data entry.
Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in warehouse operations.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Positive attitude towards team members.
