Scheduled Hours: 40 hours per week, Varying Shifts
Scope of Position The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for providing health care services to patients within the parameters of a standard care or supervisory agreement with an attending physician at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The APP collaborates with physicians and other clinicians to deliver comprehensive patient care, focusing on preventive health and the management of acute and stable chronic conditions. Medical services performed are those specifically authorized by the credentialing body and certifying organization governing the APP’s licensure.
Position Summary The APP provides health care services in collaboration with a licensed physician. Services include care during acute and chronic phases, patient and family education, health promotion, and referral to other healthcare providers and community resources as appropriate. The APP is an active member of the treatment team, collaborating with attending psychiatrists to manage medical and medication needs of patients in Bridge Program settings from admission through discharge. Responsibilities also include implementing patient care within standard care arrangements, providing weekly group medication education, supporting insurance authorization, educating direct care staff, and delivering case management – individual, group, and family/couple therapy – especially for patients with co‑existing medical conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
Current certificate of authority to practice as an APRN in the State of Ohio
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program qualifying for the national certifying organization recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing
Master of Science Degree in Nursing
OR
Graduate of a PA‑C program qualifying for the National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Eligibility for State of Ohio licensure as a PA‑C
Experience 0 Years of Relevant Experience Required. Preferred: 0–2 years of relevant experience.
