Overview The Environmental Services Tech I is responsible for executing the daily duties required to establish and maintain a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment. While executing the assigned responsibilities, the EVS Tech will have contact/interactions with patients, visitors, and clinical and non‑clinical staff. The role ensures timely room turnovers related to patient throughput within the basic principles of environmental hygiene and infection prevention.
Responsibilities
Complete as assigned, daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas.
Perform duties while demonstrating a working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements. Display safe chemical use and equipment handling for all items within the healthcare environment.
Adhere to all organization safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines and standards while promoting a culture of safety.
May be asked to perform tasks according to the various facility needs, including conference room set‑ups, cleaning of stairwells and elevators, and hanging of cubicle curtains.
May mentor new Environmental Services Tech I employees.
Collaborate with others as part of the patient care team.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Explain orally or in writing the differences between levels of disinfection and perform intermediate level disinfection where required.
Communicate openly and candidly, creating an environment where co‑workers and team members reciprocate in kind. Respectfully listen to viewpoints and ideas of others.
Operate necessary equipment and machines.
Effectively use computers and mobile devices.
Work without close supervision.
Possess previous healthcare experience (preferred).
High School diploma or GED (preferred).
Physical Requirements Medium Work – Exert/lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently, and up to 10 lbs. constantly.
Location Located in Lakewood, Colorado, St. Anthony Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center offering a full range of medical specialties and health care services to Denver and the surrounding region.
