Job Overview Are you a technically skilled communicator who thrives at the intersection of engineering, estimating, and execution? Mr. Ammonia Refrigeration Inc is seeking a Sales Engineer to define project scope, build estimates, and manage industrial refrigeration projects from concept through completion. You'll play a pivotal role in turning complex customer needs into clearly scoped solutions while guiding the project to align with the budget you design. This is a unique opportunity for an engineer who enjoys both pre-award planning and post-award project management in a high-demand, highly technical trade.

Key Responsibilities Pre-Award (Estimating & Proposal Development)
Translate customer conversations and vague needs into detailed scopes of work
Draft subcontractor scopes and source subcontractor pricing
Compile self-perform labor estimates and materials lists
Outline clear, compelling customer proposals in collaboration with the Account Executive or PM
Post-Award (Project Delivery)
Finalize system design and build a complete materials list, prioritizing long-lead items
Coordinate equipment submittals and initiate fabrication releases
Develop and maintain the full project schedule, managing critical path and interdependencies
Lead ongoing customer communication and attend jobsite construction meetings
Prepare prefabrication drawings, equipment layouts, and P&IDs
Oversee installation progress, troubleshoot issues, and update schedules in real-time
Assemble closeout documentation and facilitate final handover
Technical Tools & Estimating Systems
Use CAD and PDFs for design and takeoffs
Build and refine estimating spreadsheets with advanced logic (not just data entry)
Estimate budgets, track job costs, and monitor progress using spreadsheets and project controls
Develop modular quoting tools for scalable, repeatable project estimating
Ensure estimates are fully aligned with execution plans, from materials to manpower
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Welding, or Materials Engineering (required)
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required
Industrial refrigeration experience highly preferred
Estimating experience with pipe welding and fabrication required
Proficiency using CAD for layout/design and PDFs for estimating takeoffs
Strong understanding of technical drawings, material takeoffs, and construction processes
Proven ability to build or customize estimating tools and logic-based spreadsheets
Experience with project scheduling, logistics, and interdependency management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with client-facing professionalism
Comfortable with uncertainty; capable of guiding customers toward clarity and confidence
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to 'own' projects from concept to completion
