JOB SUMMARY: The teacher is responsible to the Building Principal for planning instructional lessons that meet students' needs, interests, and abilities, creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, and employing effective instructional techniques.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with elementary endorsement. Successful teaching experience. Demonstrated skill in diagnosing, prescribing, assessing student learning, and appropriate record keeping. Knowledge of current teaching techniques, computers, and multimedia. Applicants must be able to structure a classroom to maximize student learning. Applicants must be able to establish effective communication with a variety of stakeholders. Endorsement in Reading or Math is a plus.

To be a successful teacher in Hazel Crest SD 152.5, you will create a flexible class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, establish effective rapport with students, and motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education according to each student's ability. You will also establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
Each one of the elementary schools in Hazel Crest School District 152.5 has approximately 450 students. At the 6th-8th grade level, you would be working on a team with a 6th-8th grade teacher ready to work with you to provide fantastic learning experiences for our students!
To be qualified for the position, you will need a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Education and either have prior teaching experience in Grades 6th-8th in the last two years or have taken coursework, seminars, or workshops relevant to Grades 6th-8th education. Additionally, a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an Elementary Education (Self-Contained General Education) - Kindergarten through Grade 9 endorsement.ll provide effective learning strategies for students to reach their maximum learning potential. They will be directly responsible to the building principal for all matters about the operation of the school plan, in-building administrative and personnel procedures, and general or district-wide policies. They will be indirectly responsible to the Director of Teaching and Learning for all matters about curriculum, instructional methods, and materials.
Starting Salary: $51000
Performance responsibilities: Create a classroom environment that is conducive to the learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students as needed; implement CHAMPS classroom management systems for behavior and procedures, and maintain order in a fair and consistent manner; prepare for students assigned, provide adaptations as necessary and show written evidence of preparation upon request; strive to implement instruction and action the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives; assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide necessary communication with parents on an as needed basis; work cooperatively and collaboratively with other school personnel in the identification, diagnosis, and remediation of individual students with special needs; take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities; maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation; assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct; strive to maintain and improve professional competence by attending conferences, workshops, and/or coursework; attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees; demonstrate employee responsibilities in completing duties accurately and promptly; perform such other duties as may be assigned by the building principal; work collaboratively in the classroom with supportive service personnel when it applies; and implement current curriculum provided by school district with fidelity.
