Electrical Engineer – Full Time – Lafayette, IN

Compensation: DOE – Up to $120K
Overview Our client is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support their production operations in Lafayette, IN. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, improving equipment reliability, and driving automation within a world‑class manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Do as an Electrical Engineer As an Electrical Engineer, you’ll design, plan, and implement projects to modernize, upgrade, and improve electrical systems throughout the plant. Your work will ensure efficient, safe, and reliable operation of the equipment used to produce high‑quality magnet wire for automotive, energy, and industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities
Design and manage electrical engineering projects, ensuring they meet cost, safety, and schedule goals.
Upgrade and maintain plant electrical systems, including control panels, drives, PLCs, temperature controllers, and monitoring systems.
Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC and HMI systems (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, and others).
Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to diagnose and resolve electrical/electronic issues.
Recommend and manage capital projects for process improvements and cost reductions.
Support safety, environmental, and reliability initiatives through engineering design and system improvements.
Develop and maintain documentation, schematics, and equipment records.
Work with purchasing and vendors to source materials and ensure timely project delivery.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, or an Associate’s degree with 3 years of industrial experience.
Hands‑on experience in industrial electrical systems and equipment design.
Strong knowledge of PLC programming, VFD controls, HMI development, and automation systems.
Experience with software such as RSLogix 500/5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, Siemens Step‑7, and AutoCAD.
Understanding of electrical codes, power distribution, and safety systems.
Strong project management, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects while providing plant‑wide technical support.
Preferred Qualifications
Six Sigma Certification or continuous improvement experience.
