Our staff of more than 650 professionals delivers integrated planning, design, engineering and construction solutions.
Due to MSG's continued growth, a new opening is available for a PE Civil Design Engineer to assist with our projects in Grand Rapids.
Key Responsibilities
Work in conjunction with licensed engineers assisting with the design and preparation of a variety of commercial, industrial, energy, water/waste‑water and community projects throughout the Midwest.
Collaborate with public and private sector clients, gaining exposure to diverse challenges and communities.
Lead on design efforts and tasks for high‑impact civil infrastructure and land development projects across Michigan and beyond.
Contribute to business development and client relationship building (with support from leadership).
Coordinate with fellow MSG staff across a variety of service sectors including surveying, geotechnical, structural, traffic, transportation, and site construction.
Perform and check various design calculations and related tasks for preparing a design package.
Prepare front‑end feasibility documents, due‑diligence reports and zoning studies, project development, storm‑water modeling and design, cost estimates and detailed design plans.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited school.
Strong communication skills and proficiency at working in a vibrant, multi‑faceted team environment.
Extensive knowledge and project experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Passionate about technical excellence and mentoring others.
Hydraulic design, pavement design and grading skills are desired.
PE license, or demonstrated ability to readily obtain one within 6 months.
Business development mindset is a plus, but not required on day one.
Professional organization involvement encouraged and supported (including ASCE, APWA, etc.).
