Position Overview The Quality Engineer is responsible for organizing and advancing quality control activities for engineered products manufactured in the United States and abroad.

Duties will include working at fabricator workshops, raw material suppliers, and third‑party contractors, with a focus primarily on the Kansas City, MO area.

Remote locations near an airport are preferred.

Position Responsibilities

Represent and promote Elessent’s quality requirements.

Coordinate with the global inspection manager and project managers to organize pre‑inspection meetings and explain specifications to Fabricators and Contractors.

Review and approve documentation from Fabricators or Contractors (e.g., WPS, PQR, NDE procedures).

Organize inspections of Engineered Products based on ITP and the Elessent Equipment Inspection Matrix.

Manage, qualify, and coordinate third‑party inspectors when contractors are used.

Inspect fabrication and installation work onsite, verifying compliance with purchase orders and specifications, and submit reports.

Perform qualification of Fabricators’ welding programs or onsite Contractors.

Monitor Contractor performance regarding quality and safety during installation, maintenance, or repair.

Report deviations and non‑conformance to the Project Manager and Supervisor, facilitating corrective actions.

Coordinate with fabricator’s quality management for pressure vessel and pressure piping as needed.

Participate in pre‑qualification and coordinate company qualification shop surveys for new Fabricators, Manufacturers, or Contractors.

Submit required inspection documentation after each inspection activity.

Prepare and issue Monthly Quality Issue reports, including fabrication and inspection status for regional projects.

Inspect and monitor raw material quality at supplier facilities or company warehouses.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

Consistent attention to detail during inspections.

Assertive with the ability to enforce project requirements with Fabricators, Manufacturers, and Contractors.

Bachelor’s degree in Welding, Mechanical Engineering, or Metallurgy (recommended); equivalent experience acceptable.

CWI certificate required.

Current or prior NDE Level II or above certificates for various NDE methods.

Minimum 10 years of QC inspection experience in oil, natural gas, or chemical industries.

10 years’ experience on projects involving foreign investors, focusing on welding and NDE quality control.

In‑depth knowledge of ASME, NBIC, ASNT, AWS, API codes and standards (preferred).

Knowledge of European, Chinese, or other fabrication standards a plus.

Familiarity with mechanical inspection and testing methods.

Strong communication skills at all organizational levels.

Self‑starter with a proactive attitude toward continuous improvement.

Willingness to travel frequently, domestically and internationally.

Experience with semi‑automatic orbital TIG tubes‑to‑sheet welding a plus.
