Job Description At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people’s lives around the world today, and for generations to come. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible.
Northrop Grumman is currently looking for an experienced Level 2 or Level 3 in Modeling and Simulations, Systems or Software engineering with a strong background in C++.
The successful candidate will work with our C++ based simulations of the AARGM ER family of missiles to verify weapon system requirements. This will involve assisting in developing weapon systems requirements verifications, developing scenarios to verify those requirements, analyzing the results using MATLAB or Python tools, and digging into the C++ source code of the simulation to track down reasons for apparent requirements failures (actual issue with the system itself, the system software, or the model representation in C++). The candidate will also perform extensive testing of the simulations themselves to verify their suitability for weapon systems requirements verification. Later tasks will vary between software‑centric or analysis‑centric.
Basic Qualifications for Level 2
BS degree in software engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, systems engineering, or a related field is required with 2 years of experience; or an MS degree in the above areas with 0 years of experience is required.
Previous experience and proficiency in developing or troubleshooting C or C++ applications on Windows, and preferably on Linux.
Significant experience with either MATLAB or Python, with demonstrable experience and skills in using these for data analysis.
Significant experience developing requirements, devising requirements verification methods, executing those verifications, and documenting the results.
Sufficient background in physics to understand the basics of flight dynamics and sensors (material covered in first‑year engineering physics courses will suffice) or coursework in statistics beyond the general education level.
Experience in at least one of the following:
6‑DOF simulations
MBSE/CAMEO
GNC
Sensors
Other field specifically relevant to missile simulation or verification
Experience as a product owner or CAM
Ability to obtain an interim U.S. Government Secret security clearance prior to start and ability to get cleared to SAP access level
Basic Qualifications for Level 3
BS degree in software engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, systems engineering, or a related field is required with 5 years of experience; or an MS degree in the above areas with 3 years of experience is required.
MBSE/SYSML/CAMEO
GNC
Sensors
Other field specifically relevant to missile simulation or verification
Experience as a product owner or CAM
Ability to obtain an interim U.S. Government Secret security clearance prior to start and ability to get cleared to SAP access level
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a charge account manager, or other experience with EVMS
Some experience with 6‑DOF simulations or related simulations, or guidance, navigation and control algorithms for airborne platforms (strongly preferred)
Experience running Monte Carlo simulations
Experience working with an HPC system
Experience with hardware in the loop systems
Comfortable using GIT as a configuration management system
Familiar with make files or CMAKE
Familiar with Distributed Simulation Systems protocols such as DIS or HLA
General mathematical background in linear algebra and differential equations
Experience using simulations to verify weapon systems
Experience in estimating/planning budget and schedule, and in tracking to that plan; specific experience via an agile paradigm is strongly preferred
Experience with SysML, preferably with CAMEO
AJEM or other lethality modeling tools
