Supervisor Nursing Intensive Care Unit – MHB Summary As a team member under the leadership and in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, the supervisor is accountable for the 24‑hour management of clinical nursing practice and patient care delivery, management of human, fiscal and other resources, development of personnel, compliance with regulatory and professional standards, strategic planning, and fostering interdisciplinary collaborative relationships within the unit and the healthcare institution as a whole.

Salary $94,630.61–$141,936.03 per year.

Job Details Facility: Mercy Hospital of Buffalo. Shift: 3 (Night). Hours: 7 p.m.–5 a.m. / 9 p.m.–7 a.m.

Educational Requirements

Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing required OR Bachelors in another discipline with a Master of Science in Nursing required.

Current RN licensure in the State of New York.

Current BLS certification.

Current ACLS certification or completion of course within six (6) months of assignment.

Nationally recognized Nursing Certification obtained within two years required.

Experience Requirements

One year of critical care nursing experience required within the past 5 years.

Two (2) years of acute care nursing experience required.

Charge nurse, managerial, or supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with all levels of unit personnel, physicians, families, visitors, and to manage activities of a diverse group of professional, nonprofessional, and clerical employees.

Active listening skills.

Planning skills to develop goals and objectives in concert with hospital objectives and implement action plans to meet those goals.

Analytical ability to identify opportunities for improvements and resolve problems positively.

Teaching abilities to promote optimal orientation and continuing education of staff.

Budgeting skills to control fiscal operations of selected unit(s)/area(s) and identify/explain variances.

Current knowledge of health care trends and issues and ability to relate them to hospital and work area environment.
