RN - FT - Cardiac Progressive Care Unit

Full-Time, 36 hrs/week, 7a‑7:30p, every other weekend/holiday
Primary patient population: This unit specializes in congestive heart failure.
Unit Size: 32‑bed unit
Target Nurse‑to‑Patient Ratio: 1:4 to 1:5 (subject to change based on census numbers and patient care needs)

Summary Guided by knowledge of the basic principles of nursing based on the biological, physical, and psycho‑social sciences, utilizes judgment supported by evidence and nursing theory in the delivery of nursing care. Provides, coordinates, and/or delegates nursing care and manages resources in the delivery of care for patients, the family of patients and the community, with the goal of attaining, maintaining and restoring optimum health.
Formal Education Required
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Applicants with an Associate’s degree will be considered but are required to obtain BSN within three (3) years of employment
Graduate of a program of professional nursing that is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio
Experience And Training Required
PRN RN’s must have at least one‑year recent experience in the area of practice.
One year of related RN experience is required for weekend option positions.
Additional related previous experience and/or preparation may be required for specialty units.
Other Skills, Competencies And Qualifications
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
Requires exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other potentially hazardous conditions common to a clinical environment, such as risk of falls, strains, etc.
Maintains current Basic Life Support certification; all nurses new to critical care, progressive care, medical telemetry, PACU, and ED must successfully complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support within the first six months and maintain current card. Experienced RNs hired into areas requiring ACLS are expected to have an ACLS certification upon hire or must be completed within six weeks of hire.
Population Specific Competency
Additional education or certifications may be required for specialty areas (i.e. PALS, NIH, Non‑Violet Crisis Intervention, etc.).
Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self‑respect, dignity and diversity.
Level Of Physical Demands
Heavy: Exerts 50‑100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
Salary $33.75/hr – $53.00/hr. The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. The range listed is the full base salary range. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.
