The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community‑based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish.
Responsibilities
Define, implement and review departmental operational policies and goals.
Participate in planning and enhancing policies and procedures, interfacing with residents, community‐based organizations, community boards, institutions, public health and law enforcement.
Provide guidance and specialized support to unit managers to strengthen the Division’s alliance and engagement with key stakeholders.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with community partners to optimize enrichment and intervention resources to reduce youth crime, violence and victimization.
Stay apprised of emerging trends and best practices; collaborate to develop problem‑solving solutions to improve Neighborhood Safety.
Support the creation of a continuum of care framework for victims of violence.
Develop key performance indicators and metrics across all units within the Division.
Monitor and evaluate operational performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management or related field (Master’s preferred).
Project management skills and crisis management experience.
Proven experience in operations management or similar role with strong understanding of community engagement and resources.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Minimum of 6 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in an executive or managerial role.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, dashboards) and other data tools.
Experience developing spreadsheets, tracking systems and performance reports.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent presentation and communication abilities.
Familiarity with youth development and community‑based programs.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, PowerPoint, Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
