Job Description We are seeking a hands‑on Vice President of Engineering -AI with a focus on leading the design and implementation of next‑generation AI solutions in the Legal Tech domain. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership—ideal for someone thrives at the intersection of AI, data engineering, and applied innovation.
You’ll architect and build intelligent systems that redefine how the legal industry manages information, surfaces insights, and automates decisions—integrating AI seamlessly into core legal workflows such as eDiscovery, Contract Analysis, Regulatory Review, and Knowledge Management.
Key Responsibilities
Architect transformative AI solutions leveraging multimodal and LLM‑based approaches to automate and enhance legal workflows.
Lead hands‑on development of prototypes and scalable systems using frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Hugging Face Transformers.
Design cloud‑native architectures across AWS, Azure, or GCP with tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, or Pinecone for scalable data and model management.
Partner with legal SMEs and client innovation teams to identify high‑impact AI opportunities across document review, privilege detection, compliance, and discovery workflows.
Collaborate with product and data science leaders to integrate RAG pipelines, vector databases, and retrieval‑augmented systems into production‑grade applications.
Establish technical strategy for model governance, prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and AI safety in enterprise legal contexts.
Co‑develop research and innovation pilots with academic labs and enterprise partners, ensuring fast iteration and real‑world validation.
Mentor and grow engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical rigor, creativity, and continuous improvement.
Measure and communicate impact, ensuring every AI initiative drives measurable ROI, efficiency, and client value.
Qualifications
10+ years of technical leadership in AI, data platforms, or cloud‑native technologies, with a proven track record of driving innovation and transformation.
Deep understanding of LLMs, RAG architecture, embeddings, knowledge graphs, and agentic AI frameworks.
Experience integrating AI with legal enterprise platforms such as Relativity, OpenText Axcelerate, iManage, or ContractPodAI is a major plus.
Executive‑level communication and stakeholder management skills.
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field; Ph.D. or equivalent research experience preferred.
Compensation The compensation range for this role is $250,000 to $375,000 annually, with potential annual bonus eligibility.
