The Team Lead , API Integration Engineer will provide technical leadership and strategic guidance for ABC Fitness Solutions’ API Integrations team. This role will drive the design, development, and optimization of integrations across ABC’s product ecosystem, including Glofox, Ignite, Trainerize, Commerce, and Gymsales. The Lead Engineer will work closely with cross‑functional teams, external partners, and global customers to ensure seamless, scalable, and secure integration experiences. The Lead Engineer will also be an advocate for standards and drive adoption of industry standard practices across the entire ABC ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of API Integration Engineers, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and technical excellence.

Architect, develop, and maintain API- and Webhook‑based integrations across ABC’s platforms and third‑party systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.

Serve as the escalation point for complex integration issues and provide expert technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders.

Collaborate with global customers and integration partners to deliver robust API and Webhook solutions tailored to their business needs.

Oversee the implementation and maintenance of authentication protocols and secure data transfer mechanisms (OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys, Webhook signing/validation).

Evaluate and introduce new tools and processes for API and Webhook testing, automation, and monitoring to enhance efficiency and quality.

Partner with Product and Platform Engineering teams to identify API and Webhook enhancements, define integration roadmaps, and influence strategic initiatives.

Ensure documentation, best practices, and technical standards are maintained and shared across the team.

Champion continuous improvement initiatives, driving innovation within the API and Webhook ecosystem.

Represent the API Integration team in cross‑departmental meetings and technical planning sessions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

7–10 years of experience in API and Webhook development, integration, or platform engineering roles, including at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.

Advanced understanding of RESTful APIs, Webhook architectures, authentication protocols, and error handling best practices.

Strong experience using API testing and automation tools (Postman, Newman, or similar frameworks).

Demonstrated success in managing customer‑facing API and Webhook integrations with global clients or enterprise systems.

Familiarity with modern integration and event‑driven technologies such as Kafka, AWS SNS/SQS, and API management tools (Gravitee, Kong, Apigee, or AWS API Gateway).

Chargebee or similar SaaS billing integration experience preferred.

Proven leadership skills with the ability to coach and motivate engineers across multiple geographies.

Excellent written and spoken English skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and decision‑making skills.

Supervisory Responsibility

This role leads a small team of API Integration Engineers and may oversee contractors or partner technical contributors as needed.

Additional Information

Occasional flexible working hours required to support global integration partners and customers.

Expected to collaborate frequently across multiple time zones.

This role operates within ABC’s global remote‑first framework.
