About the Role We’re seeking an experienced and client-focused
Senior Mechanical Engineer
to serve as the
discipline lead
for complex pharmaceutical and life sciences projects. This is a
client-facing leadership role
that requires strong technical expertise in
HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems , as well as the ability to guide a multidisciplinary design team from concept through completion.
You’ll represent the mechanical discipline in client meetings, oversee project execution, and ensure mechanical systems are fully integrated into the overall facility design — maintaining the high standards required in
GMP and cleanroom environments .
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the
mechanical lead
for pharmaceutical and industrial facility projects, managing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design.
Coordinate mechanical design with other disciplines to deliver a cohesive and compliant system.
Interface directly with clients, code officials, and design professionals to resolve technical issues and maintain alignment on project goals.
Manage designers and engineering staff, overseeing budgeted hours, quality, and delivery timelines.
Contribute to project proposals, design reviews, and engineering documentation.
Ensure all designs meet relevant building codes, safety standards, and GMP requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
(required).
15+ years
of mechanical design experience in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
5+ years
of experience within
life sciences, pharmaceutical, or industrial consulting engineering .
Professional Engineer (PE)
license preferred.
Strong ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams and collaborate with clients.
Proficiency with
Revit
or
SmartPlant
highly preferred.
Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
Preferred Background
Familiarity with mechanical utilities such as process cooling, compressed air, and clean steam.
Prior consulting experience in multi-discipline engineering firms.
