Nurse Practitioner II/CRNFA - Cardiac Surgery - Days
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Practitioner II, certified RNFA, to join the Division of Cardiac Surgery at UCI Health. The position is part of a rapidly growing cardiac surgery program that performs LVADs and complex ECMO care.
Key Responsibilities
Perform endoscopic vein harvesting and assist in radial artery harvest.
First assist in cardiac surgeries, including large vessel exposure, femoral artery/vein access, sternotomy procedures, and ECMO cannulation.
Advance surgical skills under the guidance of dedicated cardiac surgeons.
Collaborate closely with attending cardiac surgeons, ICU physicians, and cardiac nurse practitioners on the floors.
Assist in acute‑care procedures such as ECMO management and perform surgical interventions in the ICU and on the floor.
Required Qualifications
Current, active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license.
Current, active, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license.
Current, active, unrestricted Furnishing license and DEA registration.
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
NP National Board Certification (Adult Gerontology Acute Care AGACNP‑BC or ACNPC‑AG).
Current BLS certification.
Current Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA).
A minimum of 5 years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery with independent competency in endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH).
Educational training and/or experience to support the setting and patient population.
Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional Privileges prior to hire.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with physicians, nurses, and other health personnel.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear medical reports and progress notes.
Commitment to privacy, confidentiality, and security policies related to PHI.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with quality improvement projects, research, education, and training.
Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Medical Record.
Familiarity with UC policies and procedures.
