At Virginia Heart, we are looking for an experienced Electrophysiology Advanced Practice Provider (EP APP) to provide patient care on both an inpatient and outpatient basis under the supervision of our physicians. The APP will participate in clinical assessment, treatment, research, and quality assurance activities, enhancing the continuity of care at Virginia Heart.

Responsibilities
Obtains medical history and performs physical examinations
Performs clinical assessments and develops treatment plans
Initiates, monitors, and adjusts medications per EP APP practice agreement
Manages patients with complex cardiovascular diseases
Orders and evaluates laboratory, diagnostic, and radiographic tests
Completes medical records and billing at end of each day
Interrogates and reprograms Cardiovascular Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED)
Coordinates care with EP physicians or other interdisciplinary providers
Provides patient and family education, including pre‑ and post‑procedural information
Referred to appropriate Virginia Heart programs (Heart Failure, Research, Sleep)
Performs hospital rounds and maintains communication with in‑hospital EP physicians
Maintains an outpatient schedule of approximately 15 patients per day, focusing on pre‑ and post‑procedure visits, drug monitoring, urgent calls, CIED interrogation, and routine EP follow‑ups
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate program (Master’s level preferred)
NP credentialed by ANCC or PA certified by NCCPA
BLS/CPR and ACLS certified
Licensed in the State of Virginia
Skill Requirements
Experience in Electrophysiology preferred; experience in Cardiology recommended as an APP
International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) – recommended
IBHRE Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS) – recommended
Attends CME in accordance with EP APP manual
