leading heavy civil and paving contractor , is growing and looking for a talented
Construction Estimator
to join their team in
New Britain, CT . Projects include
roadway construction, bridge rehabilitation, asphalt paving, and major infrastructure improvements
across the region.

Position Summary As an
Estimator , you’ll be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and managing bids for
heavy highway, DOT, and paving projects . You’ll work closely with project management, field teams, and vendors to develop competitive estimates and contribute to project success. This is an ideal position for a self-motivated professional who values autonomy, precision, and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
Develop accurate cost estimates for
DOT and heavy highway construction projects
Perform detailed takeoffs using
HCSS HeavyBid, Bid2Win , or equivalent software
Coordinate and evaluate
subcontractor and supplier pricing
Review
plans, drawings, and specifications
to ensure complete and compliant bids
Collaborate with operations teams to craft effective
bid strategies
Support
budgeting and cost control
during project startup
Analyze historical bid data to improve accuracy and competitiveness
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in
Civil Engineering, Construction Management , or similar field
Minimum
3 years’ experience
estimating
heavy civil, paving, or DOT
projects
Strong working knowledge of
Connecticut DOT standards
Proficiency in
Microsoft Office, HCSS, and Bid2Win
Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to thrive independently in a
fast-paced, deadline-driven
environment
Base salary:
$105,000–$115,000 + 10% bonus
