Role Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Product Testing
Lead all product testing programs to ensure compliance with U.S. and international regulations (e.g., CPSC, FTC, CPSIA, EU GPSR, UK standards). Responsible for managing the Disney FAMA (Facility and Merchandise Authorization) process, ensuring all factories are audited, approved, and fully compliant with Disney’s International Labor Standards prior to production. Oversees FAMA applications, renewals, and coordination with licensees and vendors to maintain valid authorization for all Disney‑branded goods. Manage relationships with accredited testing labs (e.g., SGS, UL, Bureau Veritas, Eurofins); review and interpret lab results. Issue GCCs, COCs, and other required documentation for regulated products. Evaluate new product developments for compliance risks and provide regulatory guidance during product design stages. Factory Oversight & Audit Management
Oversee factory audit preparedness, including social, security, and quality inspections. Manage the development and follow‑through of Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) for non‑conformances. Maintain all factory state registrations and ensure timely renewals where applicable. Conduct and oversee annual compliance questionnaires and factory sustainability reporting. Labeling & Packaging Compliance
Review and approve all legal and customer‑facing labeling, packaging claims, and artwork prior to production. Maintain and update law labels and ensure all packaging elements comply with relevant regional requirements. Sustainability, Brand & Retail Compliance Programs
Lead corporate sustainability initiatives including CDP, THESIS, Detox (Greenpeace), SAP (Walmart), SupplyShift, and Green Button (Lidl). Maintain and renew Jay Franco’s Oeko‑Tex certification. Monitor industry trends and retailer expectations to guide internal sustainability strategy. Retailer & Customer Liaison
Serve as primary compliance contact for major retail partners such as Walmart, Costco, Aldi, and Target. Coordinate retailer‑specific program documentation and waiver requests. Address escalated compliance‑related customer or consumer issues. Leadership & Process Improvement
Manage and mentor a small compliance team; foster a high‑performing and responsive culture. Develop and maintain SOPs to support operational excellence and evolving compliance needs. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (product development, sourcing, licensing, design, sales) to embed compliance into the full product lifecycle. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Textile Engineering, Compliance, Business); advanced degree or certifications preferred. 10+ years of progressive experience in product safety, regulatory compliance, and factory oversight. Strong working knowledge of textile chemistry, factory operations, and global regulatory frameworks. Experience collaborating with overseas vendors and navigating complex compliance landscapes. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Adobe Illustrator or design review tools a plus.
