Clinical Maxillofacial Prosthodontist – Inside Higher Ed/Ohio State University Department: Dentistry | Graduate Prosthodontics, Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry, Joint appointment at Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.

Primary responsibilities include:

Administrative and supervisory oversight of professional and laboratory support staff.

Attending tumor board sessions.

Assisting in developing clinical protocols.

Providing patients with the full scope of intraoral and extraoral maxillofacial prosthodontic care.

Conducting research and scholarly activity supporting the division’s mission.

Participating in university and college governance.

Contributing to college continuing education programs.

Engaging in biomaterials, clinical, and translational research.

Performance objectives:

Promote evidence‑based teaching skills, proficiency in prosthodontics, and a strong track record of scholarly activity.

Demonstrate a passion for student education.

Apply advanced technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Participate in teaching activities consistent with division goals.

Demonstrate effective teaching skills through student and peer reviews.

May serve as course director (preparation and distribution of course materials, management of lecture/laboratory schedules, conducting and grading examinations).

Support a model for dental education that includes the incorporation of innovative technologies, interdisciplinary education and patient care, and evidence‑based dentistry.

Provide interdisciplinary mentoring to students.

Demonstrate collaboration between college divisions.

Participate in college and/or university committees.

Membership in professional organizations and contributions to professional activities outside of the university.

Education and experience requirements:

Required: DDS/DMD degree or equivalent, certificate of advanced education in prosthodontics and maxillofacial prosthetics from a CODA‑accredited program, eligibility for regular or limited teaching license by the Ohio State Dental Board.

Desired: Board certification, significant administrative and clinical experience (extraoral prosthetics fabrication), advanced degree (MS, PhD, EdD, etc.), American Board of Prosthodontics certification highly desirable.
