Network Security Engineer Senior

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable

Network Security Engineer Senior

to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network security, with specific experience in managing and configuring Palo Alto firewalls, including cloud deployments for AWS, GCP, and Azure. The role involves ensuring the security and integrity of our IT infrastructure, implementing security measures, and continuously monitoring and improving our network defenses.

Responsibilities

Network Security Management:

Design, implement, and manage security measures to protect network and information systems.

Firewall Administration:

Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls to ensure optimal performance and security.

Cloud Deployment:

Deploy and manage Palo Alto firewalls in cloud environments, including AWS, GCP, and Azure.

Incident Response:

Investigate and respond to security incidents and potential threats, providing timely and effective resolutions.

Policy Implementation:

Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with organizational goals.

Continuous Monitoring:

Monitor network traffic and security alerts to identify and mitigate potential threats.

Collaboration:

Work with other IT and security team members to design, implement, and maintain security frameworks.

Documentation:

Maintain detailed and accurate records of configurations, changes, and security incidents.

Qualifications Education:

Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science

Experience:

5+ years of related experience

Required Skills:

In-depth knowledge of Palo Alto firewall configuration and management.

Strong experience with deploying and managing Palo Alto firewalls in cloud environments, including AWS, GCP, and Azure.

Strong understanding of network protocols, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other security technologies.

Proven experience with other security devices and platforms.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills:

Relevant certifications (e.g., Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer – PCNSE) are a plus.

Experience with network monitoring and security tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS).

Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).

Experience with scripting and automation tools.

Knowledge of cloud security best practices.

Security Clearance Level:

Must be able to obtain a position of Public Trust

Location:

On customer site in Alexandria, VA

Compensation and Work Details The likely salary range for this position is $82,283 – $111,323. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Salary will be set based on experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements, and could fall outside of this range.
