UX Writer and Content Designer, Payments
Base Pay Range : $115,000 – $166,000 per year
Preferred Locations : San Francisco, CA; Mountain View, CA
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
4 years of experience in UX writing, content design, technical writing, editorial, marketing, or related fields.
Experience in UX-focused product writing and shaping content for multi-disciplinary projects.
Portfolio or relevant link to work included in the résumé.
Preferred Qualifications
3 years of experience interacting with executive leadership.
2 years of experience with writing, editorial, marketing, or UX writing in an agency setting.
2 years of experience working in a cross‑functional technology organization.
About The Job You are an advocate for Google’s design system, shaping product experiences by creating useful, meaningful text that helps users complete tasks. You set the vision for content and drive cohesive product narratives across multiple platforms and touchpoints. Working with researchers, product managers, engineers, marketing, and customer operations, you establish cohesive language and a unified voice across products and platforms.
Consumer Payments UX designs a cross‑surface payment experience for Google users. The team works on Google Wallet across surfaces (Web, Android, Chrome, MyAccount) and checkout experiences in Chrome worldwide. In this role you will help create simple and safe payment features such as card tokenization, account linking, and e‑wallets, and also design non‑payment journeys in Google Wallet, like adding transit cards, using a mobile driver’s license at an airport, and setting up digital car keys.
The Payments team focuses on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the team powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.
Responsibilities
Understand and advocate for all UX functions as essential to the product lifecycle.
Drive the development of innovative UX writing and content design solutions to user, product, and business problems.
Build alignment by collaborating with product managers, team members, and other cross‑functional stakeholders (e.g., marketing, legal, engineering) to develop a product narrative, idea, mission, or principles.
Lead the establishment and improvement of holistic UX writing and content design processes, systems, frameworks, or patterns across multiple teams or products.
Influence the development of priorities across projects to balance tactical and strategic efforts in alignment with project goals.
