The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for development of CMP processes as well as product introduction and implementation of CMP products at customer sites. The engineer performs formulation optimizations for developing new CMP chemistries. The primary job role is to develop total CMP processes and use all metrology tools at our Mesa, AZ facility. In this role, the engineer will also run product demonstrations for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, support and improve CMP processes for new & existing products.

Act as a CMP process expert in supporting R&D chemists.

Investigate chemistry and abrasive interactions with different dielectric and metal films.

Fine‑tune chemistry to get desired defects and metrology performance for CMP.

Support product life cycle, including product characterization and functional testing.

Interface with internal and external technical teams.

Run product demonstrations for customers in FFEM’s applications lab.

Provide on‑site customer support, both domestic and international.

Design, analyse and summarise data using statistical software.

Collaborate with technical staff on process/formulation needs with respect to CMP chemistries.

Apply fundamental chemistry knowledge.

Participate in new product development and commercialization.

Ability to work extensively in lab environment & direct technicians to support project needs in an efficient manner.

Must be able to communicate and work well with other professionals in a team environment.

Job requires standing and working in the lab for a substantial part of every day.

Requirements

Ph.D. with 1 to 2 years of industry experience preferred. BS degree in Chemical Engineering or Material Science with a minimum 7 years of industry experience or a Master’s Degree and 4 years plus industry experience may be considered.

Semiconductor industry experience, preferably CMP.

Demonstrates analytical ability, chemistry, colloids and interface science required.

Understanding of abrasive technology (Silica), corrosion protection, and electrochemistry.

Highly motivated, creative and detail‑oriented individual with a passion for problem solving.

Excellent communication, data collection, time management and organisational skills.

Proficiency in office software such as MS Excel, Word, PPT and Outlook required. DoE, JMP, data analyses and technical reporting required, experiment modelling desired.

Project management experience preferred. Ability to multi‑task.

Good interpersonal skills.

Ability to travel up to 50% of the time including international travel.

Korean language skills preferred.

Ability to support customers in various regions of the globe.
