What Makes This Role Exciting:
We are seeking a Senior Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of a robust, scalable, and intelligent data foundation for our global payroll and payments ecosystem. This role is central to our vision of building a unified, AI‑driven data platform that supports operational excellence, compliance, and innovation across all markets.
Main Responsibilities Data Architecture & Strategy
Design and maintain the enterprise data architecture blueprint for global payroll, payments, and compliance systems.
Define and enforce data modelling standards, metadata management, and master data management (MDM) practices.
Lead the creation of a unified data platform (data lakehouse/warehouse) to integrate structured and unstructured data across global markets.
Establish a data governance framework ensuring data quality, lineage, privacy, and compliance (GDPR, SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.).
Partner with business leaders to align data architecture with long‑term business and AI strategies.
AI & Advanced Analytics Enablement
Architect and optimise data pipelines to support AI/ML models for payroll forecasting, anomaly detection, compliance risk scoring, and payments optimisation.
Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to ensure data readiness for training, inference, and real‑time decisioning.
Enable semantic layers and feature stores to standardise AI input features across global datasets.
Data Engineering Leadership
Oversee design and development of ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data orchestration tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Databricks).
Champion cloud‑native architecture (AWS, Azure, or GCP) to achieve scale, security, and performance.
Define and enforce best practices for data storage, partitioning, and lifecycle management.
Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to implement CI/CD for data pipelines and data observability tools.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner with Product, Engineering, and Finance teams to ensure data designs meet both technical and business needs.
Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, translating data strategy into measurable business outcomes.
Lead data architecture reviews, mentor data engineers, and drive the adoption of new data tools and frameworks.
Experience Needed For This Role
Solid proven experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise architecture roles.
Proven experience in global payroll, payments, or financial data ecosystems.
Expertise in data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical) and data warehouse/lakehouse design.
Strong hands‑on experience with modern data stack tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, or Synapse.
Proficiency with data orchestration and transformation frameworks (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Kafka, Spark).
Deep understanding of data governance, lineage, and compliance in a multinational environment.
Familiarity with AI/ML data workflows, including feature engineering, data labelling, and data versioning.
Preferred
Experience in building global financial or payroll platforms with multi‑currency, multi‑country data pipelines.
Knowledge of real‑time data streaming for payments and reconciliation.
Experience with metadata management platforms (e.g., Collibra, Alation, DataHub).
Hands‑on experience with API‑based data integrations and event‑driven architectures.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related fields.
