Job Description Veolia is seeking a Water Treatment Process and Industrial Instrumentation Technician (union position, on‑call) to support the operation, maintenance, and optimization of water treatment plant and distribution system equipment. This role focuses on the installation, calibration, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial instrumentation and control systems from manufacturers such as Siemens, Hach, Endress+Hauser, Allen Bradley, and the operation and monitoring of water quality instrumentation, analyzers, and SCADA/PLC systems. The technician will work collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams to ensure compliance with water quality standards and maximize system efficiency.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities

Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair industrial instrumentation and control equipment (flow meters, analyzers, transmitters, sensors, etc.)

Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with instrumentation, PLCs, and SCADA systems, providing timely solutions to minimize downtime.

Experience with water treatment plant and distribution system equipment, including pumps, valves, and chemical feed systems.

Collect and analyze water and sludge samples; perform chemical and analytical testing.

Conduct preventive maintenance and routine inspections of equipment.

Maintain accurate records of work performed, calibration data, and equipment inventory using CMMS and other methods.

Interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics for installation and troubleshooting.

Work with manufacturer representatives to assist in troubleshooting and repair.

Collaborate with engineering, operations and maintenance teams for process optimization and system upgrades.

Respond to alarms, emergencies, and participate in an on‑call for after‑hours support.

Adhere to and promote Veolia’s safety policies and practices.

With proper electrical background, install, maintain, service, test, calibrate and repair all instrumentation and measuring equipment, including telemetering and supervisory controls at all stations and other locations as assigned.

Read and work from schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical blueprints and drawings.

Keep abreast of rapidly changing technology by acquiring and maintaining the skills and knowledge needed through a company‑assisted training program.

Keep records of equipment maintained and repaired.

Use, adjust, and repair electronic testing equipment.

Perform other similar or less skilled work as assigned.

Assist employees of a higher classification as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED is required.

Electrical experience required.

Demonstrated experience with Siemens, Hach, Endress+Hauser, or similar industrial instrumentation.

Experience in water treatment plant operations, distribution systems, or industrial instrumentation and automation.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Strong knowledge of PLC programming and SCADA system interfaces.

Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Computer literacy with Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications.

Excellent troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and record‑keeping skills.

Ability to interface with technical solutions resources from manufacturers and representatives.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required Certification / Licenses / Training

Trade school certification in industrial instrumentation, electronics, or a related field preferred.

Valid driver’s license is required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Normal visual acuity, manual dexterity, and hearing ability.

Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and detect odors.

Benefits Pay Rate: $41.36 per hour.
