Job Description – Restaurant General Manager, Peacock Alley – Waldorf Astoria Washington DC

The iconic Old Post Office has been reimagined as Waldorf Astoria Washington DC – reclaiming its position as one of Washington, D.C.’s preeminent addresses where all are welcome. With 263 rooms, 38,000 square feet of event space, and 2 restaurants plus 3 bars, this is the new home for Washington, D.C.’s most consequential events, groundbreaking meetings, and unforgettable experiences. In this role, you will manage the day-to-day operations of Peacock Alley, leading a team of 3 Food and Beverage Managers and 30 Front of House team members, and reporting directly to the Director of Food & Beverage. The ideal candidate must be an exceptional leader with a passion for creating extraordinary experiences, a talent for training and developing others, and experience in all aspects of restaurant operations (financial performance, social media reputation, local market capture, and employee relations). At least 2‑3 years of restaurant management experience in an upscale dining environment is required. Experience in a luxurious cocktail environment, strong beverage knowledge, and managing a unionized work environment is preferred. Classification: Full‑Time
Shift: Various – must be available to weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Pay Rate: The annual salary range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.

Plan and direct all aspects of restaurant operations, including guest service standards, product quality, cost controls, profitability, marketing initiatives, systems use and management, budgeting and forecasting, department management, policy and procedure implementation and enforcement, and meeting participation and facilitation. Monitor and develop team member performance, including supervision, professional development, counseling, evaluations, and recognition and reward. Create and maintain a customer database and partner with Sales and Marketing/Public Relations on marketing strategy. Maximize efficiency of technology systems, such as Open Table. Monitor and assess service and satisfaction trends, evaluate issues, and make improvements accordingly. Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards. Initiate and implement up‑selling techniques to promote restaurant food and beverage and services, and maximize overall revenue, including creating new menus and cross‑selling products and services hotel‑wide. Recruit, interview, and train team members. What are we looking for?
