The opportunity: The Senior Electrical Reliability Engineer will be the subject matter expert and program owner for critical electrical reliability initiatives throughout the Longview Mill. This role focuses on proactive maintenance, failure prevention, and strategic asset management for the facility's electrical infrastructure.

How you will impact WestRock: The primary duties and responsibilities for this position include:

Electric Motor Reliability Program Ownership:

Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive reliability program for all

electric motors

in the mill, including specification, repair standards, and predictive maintenance strategies.

Predictive Maintenance Program Management:

Manage and coordinate the mill's

infrared (IR) testing

program to identify thermal anomalies in electrical equipment.

Oversee

Partial Discharge (PD) testing

on medium and high-voltage equipment to assess insulation health.

Manage the

transformer oil testing

program, including scheduling, analysis review, and follow-up actions.

Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) Follow-Up:

Act as the technical lead for electrical equipment failures, ensuring thorough RCFA is conducted, and critically, driving the implementation and follow-up of all

corrective actions

to prevent recurrence.

Assist with the development and execution of improvement projects focused on

Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) , aiming to enhance performance, reliability, and energy efficiency.

Contribute to projects focused on improving the overall reliability and resiliency of the facility's

electrical distribution system .

What you need: Required:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Experience:

Minimum of

5-7 years

of experience in electrical reliability engineering within a heavy industrial environment (e.g., pulp and paper, oil and gas, mining, power generation).

Technical Expertise:

Proven expertise in motor maintenance and reliability, high-voltage equipment, transformers, protective relays, and predictive maintenance technologies (IR, PD, oil analysis).

Analytical Skills:

Demonstrated ability to perform and drive results from

Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) .

Communication:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams.

Preferred:

Prior experience in the

pulp and paper industry .

Familiarity with modern computerized maintenance management systems ( CMMS ).

Certified Reliability Engineer ( CRE ) or equivalent certification.

Compensation:

Salary Range: $97,300 – $155,500 DOE (Junior, Intermediate, Senior levels)

Bonus/Commission Eligible: Yearly Short-Term Incentive Program (STIP) bonus based off metrics.

The salary range for this position is $93,750.00 - $156,250.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 10 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
