The University of Southern California Institute for Addiction Science is seeking an experienced clinical research coordinator to fill a full‑time Research Coordinator Supervisor position. The successful candidate will play a central role in the management of single‑site and multi‑site clinical trials to evaluate new treatments for addiction, with a primary focus on GLP‑1 receptor agonist medications.
Job Accountabilities
Coordinate participant recruitment and oversee study research staff, interviewers and consenters.
Assist with consenting and interviewing as needed; supervise study staff and volunteers on lab activities.
Ensure compliance with protocols, standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
Manage project‑specific activities for multi‑site trials, including coordination of research activities, project meetings and staff training/certifications.
Collect ongoing data on participant engagement to optimize research participation across sites.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in clinical research coordinator roles (minimum five years, including recruitment of human participants).
Experience supervising research project staff and managing project budgets.
Certified research coordinator training and familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and HIPAA regulations.
Knowledge of medical environments, terminology and electronic data capture (EDC) systems.
Master’s degree or higher (or equivalent education and experience).
Strong computer skills, including MS Office and clinical trial management software.
Preferred Qualifications
5–7 years of experience as a clinical research assistant/coordinator.
Project management experience with related training or certification.
Master’s degree or higher in clinical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, psychology, medicine, addiction medicine/substance use.
Phlebotomy certification and CA State Phlebotomy License (preferred but not required).
The expected annual base salary range for this position is $89,000 - $112,000. USC considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education, key skills, internal equity, federal, state and local laws, grant funding and market conditions when extending an offer.
Minimum Education and Experience
Master’s degree required; combined experience/education may substitute.
Minimum 5 years of clinical research coordinator or manager experience.
Proven skills in budget control, data capture systems, and research regulations.
Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to multi‑task and prioritize, and teamwork as well as independent work.
