Job Title: Sheet Metal Technician Job Description The Commercial Sheet Metal Installer is tasked with fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal components essential for commercial HVAC systems, ductwork, and related structures. This role demands precision, strict adherence to safety standards, and the capability to work on‑site across various commercial settings.

Responsibilities

Measure, cut, bend, and shape sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery.

Assemble and join sheet metal parts using rivets, screws, welds, or other fastening methods.

Install ductwork, ventilation systems, and other sheet metal components according to blueprints and specifications.

Ensure proper alignment, sealing, and insulation for efficient airflow and system performance.

Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and job specifications to determine material requirements and installation procedures.

Inspect completed work for accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

Follow OSHA and company safety protocols at all times.

Collaborate with project managers, HVAC technicians, and other trades to ensure timely and accurate installation.

Diagnose and correct issues with installed sheet metal systems as needed.

Essential Skills

At least 5 years of experience installing square, round, spiral commercial duct systems.

Proficient in using sheet metal fabrication tools and equipment.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

2+ years of experience in commercial sheet metal installation or related field.

Familiarity with HVAC systems and ductwork installation.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or at heights.

Comfortable working in varying temperatures and conditions.

OSHA 10 or 30 Certification (Preferred).

Sheet Metal Worker Certification (Preferred).

Welding Certification (if applicable).

Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $35.00/hr.
