Job Title: Hospice Pastoral Care Counselor
Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Hospice Pastoral Care Counselor to provide spiritual support and guidance to patients and their families during end-of-life care. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of diverse spiritual beliefs and practices.
Key Responsibilities
Provide spiritual care and counseling to patients and their families in hospice settings.
Conduct assessments to identify spiritual needs and concerns of patients and families.
Offer emotional support and comfort to individuals facing end-of-life issues.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure holistic care for patients.
Facilitate support groups and memorial services as needed.
Maintain confidentiality and respect the diverse beliefs of patients and families.
Document spiritual care interventions and maintain accurate records.
Skills and Qualifications
Master’s degree in Divinity, Theology, or a related field.
Certification or endorsement from a recognized religious organization.
Experience in pastoral care, particularly in hospice or healthcare settings.
Strong communication and active listening skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Empathy and compassion for patients and families in crisis.
Knowledge of grief and bereavement processes.

Requirements
Ordained, commissioned, or credentialed according to the practices of an organized religious group.
Preferred experience in bereavement counseling.
Minimum of three years of experience providing end-of-life spiritual care.
Basic computer skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
Physically able to climb two flights of stairs and stand or walk for at least four hours.
Valid state driver’s license.
Satisfactory driving record and proof of current auto insurance.
Must complete 12 hours of continuing education, annually
