Position Summary
Our team is seeking a full-time Survey Crew Chief to supervise field operations in our survey department. This position will lead a survey team in the field collecting data for boundary and topographic surveys, as-built surveys and construction staking/layout.
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage two-person survey crew in daily field assignments
Read and interpret construction plans and documents, perform calculations, review data and keep accurate and detailed field notes as well as completing field data file transfers
Coordinate with project managers to complete scope of project
Operate GPS, total stations, robots and data collectors
Transfer files between data collectors and internal company files
Complete regular inventory and maintenance of surveying equipment, tools and vehicles
Comply with safety policies and procedures
Required Skills
Ability to move in and around construction sites and field assignments
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment in urban and rural areas
Ability to walk long distances
Ability to work in all outdoor weather conditions
Required Experience
3 years surveying and 2+ years experience as crew chief
Ability to lead a survey crew or work solo
Ability to operate a total station, GPS and robot
Ability to independently perform tasks and solve problems
Valid MN driver’s license and clean driving history
Preferred Experience
Associates Degree in Surveying Technology or a Land Surveying Certificate
Drafting of surveys
Proficient with Leica GPS, Sokia Robot w/Carlson Controller, Topcon GPS/Robot
