Louisiana School Employees' Retirement System (LSERS) is the third largest retirement system in Louisiana, made up of non-instructional personnel of the Louisiana public school system. We currently have an opening for an Accountant Manager to join our Accounting Team. The Accountant Manager works closely with the CFO and supervises three Accountants. Their primary role is to oversee the financial contributions, enrollments, bank reconciliations and year-end tax reports.

Qualifications
Seven years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.
Experience Substitution Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties
As an Accountant Manager, you will be key to maintaining the financial accuracy of the Accounting Team.
In this role you will:
Oversee and manage the preparation of annual financial statements of LSERS on the $2 billion in pension assets.
Manage the preparation of the reconciliation of the Federal 945 taxes ledger account monthly and annually. Transmit taxes for all retirement payrolls for Federal Taxes, Refund taxes, and Retiree Payroll using the IRS's and EFTPS systems.
Communicate verbally and in writing with banks and members to ensure proper handling of stop payments as well as misplaced checks should they surface once stop payment has been initiated.
Oversee and manage DROP and IBRP withdrawal set up and payment, prepare annual RMD payments, and oversee the transfer of retiree/beneficiary DROP/IBRP LA contributions to the Self-Directed Plan administrator.
Oversee and manage employees responsible for agency contribution reporting, agency insurance cost upload and reporting, refund of accumulated contributions, member account adjustments, enrollment information, monitoring of the beneficiary designation(s), void payments, and ex-members.
Prepare statements of annual earnings and disability receipts.
Assigned additional duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Accountant Administrator/CFO.
