Occupational CTE Teacher, Criminal Justice
EFFECTIVE: DECEMBER 1, 2025
Qualifications
A high school diploma, a minimum of 3–5 years of work experience with demonstrated competencies in the field and a valid driver's license.
A successful candidate must also be service-oriented, work well with business and industry, promote excellence, and demonstrate a commitment to professionalism.
Must be eligible to teach technical dual-enrollment courses.
Special Knowledge/Skills
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to oversee student field experiences
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Plans, develops, and uses effective teaching methods and materials which assist students in meeting course objectives, are appropriate for students with diverse educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles, and engage the students in learning.
Maintain regular office hours, grade records
Attend and participate in faculty meetings
Design and develop curriculum within state standards and curriculum guidelines
Assist in assessment and placement of students within classes and industry
Participate in student recruitment, placement, advisement, and serve on CTE/PIE Center committees
Identify student learning outcomes: develop processes and tools for assessment; incorporate results in order to modify instruction and materials in coordination with colleagues
Student Growth and Development
Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal assessments.
Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
Present a positive role model for students; support mission of school district.
Monitors, evaluates, and documents student attendance, progress and competency attainment; submits related reports as required
Classroom Management and Organization
Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
Communication
Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
Professional Growth and Development
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Other
Comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to the occupational area assigned.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s).
Mental Demands / Physical Demands / Environmental Factors
Tools/Equipment Used - Personal computer, standard instructional equipment
Posture - Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion - Frequent walking, lift knuckle to waist 20 lbs., lift floor to waist
Lifting - Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 lbs.); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment
Environment - Work inside, may work inside and outside; regular exposure to noise
Mental Demands - Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
Education/Licensure Associate’s degree or high school diploma/GED and equivalent wage-earning experience as required by certification. Demonstrated competency in the career and technical education subject area assigned.
