Senior Electrical Engineer - New Ship Design (Norfolk) Job Brief

As a rapidly growing small business, we’re looking for a

Senior Electrical Engineer

who can lead complex electrical design efforts, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the growth of our business. This individual will provide technical direction, ensure the delivery of high‑quality engineering products, and support concept and detailed design for the

U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command (MSC), and U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) .

If you also have excellent people skills, early‑stage electrical ship design experience, exemplary work ethic, and an excellent understanding of the U.S. Navy, MSC, and USCG ship systems, we’d like to meet you.

Responsibilities

Lead electrical design and integration efforts for new and modified naval and commercial vessels, with emphasis on

early‑stage concept and feasibility design .

Support concept development through power distribution modeling, load analysis, and electrical system arrangements.

Perform and review detailed electrical analyses using appropriate engineering tools.

Serve as the technical point of contact for clients and internal project teams.

Review, approve, and ensure the quality of engineering and technical deliverables.

Develop and check electrical drawings and schematics in AutoCAD.

Mentor junior engineers and designers, promoting best practices and technical growth.

Assist the PM in business development and customer relations.

Expect approximately 10% domestic and international travel.

Requirements

7+ years of experience in electrical engineering for U.S. Navy, MSC, or USCG vessels.

Proven experience supporting

concept, preliminary, and detailed design phases

of ship or marine system development.

Strong understanding of Navy/MSC/USCG design standards, specifications, and shipboard electrical systems.

Power systems or power distribution design experience is required; experience with internal communications, lighting, electronics, or combat systems preferred.

Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage deliverables, and interface directly with clients.

BS/BE in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Technology‑focused mindset and ability to integrate new tools into engineering workflows.

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
